Quit Smoking Tips

What are the Side Effects of Tobacco?

There are several side effects of tobacco and they are all treats to the human body.  Nicotine is the chemical that makes tobacco so addictive. Children between the age of 9 and 18, both male and female who smoke 4 or more cigarettes each day suffer from a slower development rate of lungs. This will later cause lung cancer, emphysema, and hearing disease. Moreover those who breathe secondhand smoke suffer from pneumonia, bronchitis, and other lung diseases. By the time they are growing up, they will already be having ear infections, develop asthma, and have more asthma attacks.

Women who smoke and are pregnant are putting their child on the line. Even if some smoking pregnant women do have healthy babies, not all are extremely lucky. When a pregnant mother smoke she may give birth to a prematurely born baby, before pregnancy or during the time its conceived and even afterwards. If a mother breast feeds her baby and if she is a smoker, the nicotine and other toxic chemicals found in her own body will be transferred through the milk to the baby. And this causes health problem for the child.
