What Nicotine Does to the Body?

Nicotine is a substance used in cigarettes. It is basically made up different types of chemicals. It is a well known fact that nicotine does more harm to the body than good. Even with this knowledge, people tend to smoke nicotine because it has the capability to keep a person attached to it. Though people feel relieved from stress on smoking, there are other effects that are more negative to the functioning of the body. Nicotine diffuses through blood, lungs and the mucous system and affects the functioning of the body. It blocks the much required insulin hormone and thus cuts down the appetite feeling in the smoker. It should be noted that nicotine de-stresses the body and at the same time increases the metabolic rate and burns more amount of calories than required by the body. This is a good thing about nicotine, but it should also be noted that nicotine enhances bad cholesterol in the body thus paving way to heart disorders. As such those who are habituated to intake of nicotine through cigarettes or through any other source are more prone to heart attacks than those who are isolated from it.
