Smoking triggers can be avoided by drafting a plan for every triggering situation. Such as
- After a meal: To deal with this trigger, you can deviate yourself by doing some pleasurable activities or trying a new hobby like walking.
- Drinking coffee: Change your coffee timings and the way you have it like, the place, your mug, everything because it may remind your smoking habit.
- Break time at office: Instead of smoking, use your break time for a short walk or read a chapter in a novel or a feature story in the newspaper which makes you pleasure.
- Stress: If you are in a stressful situation, just go for brisk walk around the building or on the road thinking about some pleasurable moment.
- Traveling: To deal with this situation just remove the ashtray from your car. Instead of smoking while traveling in a car, hear some favorite music or travel with a person who doesn’t have this habit.
- Parties: If you avoid alcohol parties, you can easily overcome this habit. If you don’t want to skip all these parties, just sit or stand away as far as possible from smoking people.
- Public smoking zones: Avoid spending time in these kinds of smoking areas.
