Quit Smoking Tips

Anxiety and Quitting

Quitting smoking is not easy. The thought of it also gives anxiety to a lot of smokers and of course the process of quitting does cause anxiety to certain levels. If you are trying to quit smoking, your symptoms of anxiety could be:

  • Feeling irritated and tensed
  • Neck and shoulder muscles feeling tensed

They are normal for everyone who tries to quit smoking and it is important to overcome these and keep that firm determination that you will not smoke. For this, you can do the following whenever you feel anxious:

  • Go for a walk
  • Try to meditate for a few minutes to calm down your body and mind.
  • Take a hot water bath to again distract you as well as to relax your body.

Anxiety at the time of quitting is bound to occur because tobacco is known to reduce anxiety to some levels. So, when you quit smoking, you are no longer taking tobacco and therefore the anxiety that you are feeling, is actually a natural feeling for the non smokers around you. You will also get used to it within a few days. Any kind of addiction is bad and it takes some effort and lot of determination to come out of it and so is the case with smoking too.
